Wildlife & Environmental Art Exhibition

At The Natural World Centre at Whisby Nature Park near Lincoln

Open daily 9:30am – 4:30pm from the 28th February to 7 March 2022

I have been working on creating a new series of animal portraits for this exhibition. I have been focusing on the faces of British Wildlife. Rather that making textural and colourful backgrounds, I have instead focused on just the animal’s face and left the rest black. Now that the Fox and the Badger portrait have been framed, they look like they are peering out of the frames.

I spent many weeks perfecting their body shapes by continually analyzing my felted lines with the ones of a photo. I used the photos of two of my favourite Instagram photographers: Sue Cross and Frances Crickmore. Both photographers were happy for me to use their images for my inspiration.  I hadn’t booked any workshops for January and so I used the time to focus on this series. I created two hares, a badger and a fox so far. I hope to continue the series over the year to see how much I can develop my skills.

The exhibition is curated by Brett from Upcycled Innovations. He has invited 27 artists to be part of this event. Each artist will have a space to display their work and Brett will steward the exhibition daily. Sales can be cash or card and are taken at the main till in the shop. I will be doing some demos on the Tuesday and Sunday. I look forward to showcasing my new series plus some new merchandise and cards that I have designed using my images.

See you there!
