Odd Bird Tree III Original Artwork

Usually I create artwork that makes sense with animals in their correct habitats with the right flora and fauna surrounding them. For my Odd Bird Tree series I have decided to fill the trees with a variety of my favourite birds plus a couple extra funky ones. I love needle felting birds! I think the textures and shape of their feathers lend well to needle felting. I love to see how much detail I can get with my needle when creating birds and each one takes a couple of hours to add.

There are 27 birds needle felted in this picture: Gentoo penguin, Blue winged conure, peacock, Pelican, Blue macaw, Secretary bird, Red ibis, Red cardinal, Guineafowl, Barn owl, Rook, Grey crowned crane, Red eared firetail, Blue footed booby, Oyster catcher, Griffon Vulture, Black necked grebe, California Quail, Wood duck, Royal flycatcher, Mrs. Gould’s Sunbird, Pigeon, Crimson Collared Tanager, Keel billed Toucan, Magpie, Robin, Black-winged stilt
