Description
By the Light of the Moon Original Art
This piece is a winter scene with a large moon in the centre. Tiny bunnies/hares move towards the moonlit snow while some remain in the shadows. An owl flies overhead and spots the bunnies playing. A fox is nearby and watches them play.
I created this piece early in 2024 and wanted to create my first panoramic night sky picture. I started with choosing dark blues and black wool. As I started laying down the wools I decided to add the moonlight, trees with shadows and some lighter blues for a wintery glow. From there I added lots of silk fibres and then wet felted the background together. Once felted I decided on the hares/bunnies quickly and they were needle felted in. Then came the fox looking intently at them. The owl was needle felted last and then I added my first needle felted moon. Each needle felted piece took over 3 hours to add.
The artwork is approximately 45 x 77 cm and is stitched onto a piece of mount board that is slightly larger.
This piece is currently framed and will be part of an exhibition later this year. If you are interested in seeing more details of this piece, please get in touch.
