Lincoln: Coral Reef Felted Picture
Lincoln: Coral Reef Felted Picture
Indigo Crow Gallery 57 Burton Road Lincoln
Learn how to create a wet and needle felted Coral Reef Picture. Choose all your favourite colours of wool and I will show you how to make them into an undersea picture. This class will focus on how to create bold shapes and patterns in your wet felted art plus add realism in your needle felting.
You’ll learn how to layer up many colours and textures to create depth in the design. Learn how to use silk fibres, wool curls, nepps and pre felt to create a coral reef.
Learn how to wet felt the wool together using hot soapy water, agitation, rolling and throwing to stick the layers together. This process takes about half an hour of using your hands and requires some arm strength.
Once it’s felted , you’ll learn how to use the felting needles to add spots, dots and swirls to your felted backgrounds. Once you are comfortable with the needles, I will show you how to easily needle felt tropical fish, an octopus or sea turtles.
The piece will be approximately 40 cm square-ish once felted.
