At the end of February 2024 I participated in the Bath Art Fair held at the Bath Pavilion. Alce has been organising events for many years and is an artist herself. She has thought of everything for creating a fantastic event. The preview evening on the Friday night was busy with lots of originals heading off to their new homes, including my Fox Portrait pictured above. One of my favourite parts of the event organisation was the packing station where you could bring your sold pieces to be wrapped in eco-wrapping so it can be transported safely home by the customer. That meant that my little 1x2x1m stand didn’t need to have packaging stored in it.
I brought everything that I had framed with me and filled the stand from ceiling to floor. Lots of pieces sold on Friday and Saturday and luckily I was able to faff about with the stand on the Sunday morning to make it look full again. My florals were popular and the animal portraits definitely brought people in for a closer look. I had lots of lovely chats with the visitors about the felting method and was able to talk a bit about my workshops.
The exhibition has 90 artists each with their own stand. I was on the stage which had a huge variety of art mediums including resin, pastel pencils, egg paint and felting. The exhibition had such a variety of artwork and artists at all different stages of their careers. I loved wandering around and seeing the diverse artwork on display and having a chat with the artists.
I hope I can attend in 2025 and have a bit bigger stand… although I may have to get making now!
