Description
Boxing Hares Upholstered Piano Stool is a unique collaboration of my original felted art with Ella Jenkin’s upholstery skills. It features two detailed hares that I needle felted directly onto the tweed fabric using Shetland wool.
We started with a second hand piano stool that Ella stripped and cleaned. I needle felted the boxing hares onto the tweed fabric using Shetland wool. Once I dropped the piece off to Ella, she stitched the selvedge edge under the hares to look like grass. Then she stitched it into a seat, added more wadding and expertly upholstered it to the wooden stool base.
We liked the aged look of the wood and just cleaned it. There are some marks and a small crack on the inside of the frame. This doesn’t affect the strength of the stool. The design has been needle felted a lot so that it won’t rub off or lift as the stool gets sat on.
The stool is 22 inches tall. The seat is 17 x 13.5 inches.
