Night Swimming Original Artwork

Description

Night Swimming Original Artwork is part of my recent swirl series that start with centre point (the moon) and swirls out to the outside of the picture. The copper moon is sunken into the picture there is a swirl of yellow stars around it.

This piece is a small round pond with orange and yellow fish swimming beneath the surface. A couple frogs and dragonflies were added plus some 3D pebbles and golden yellow star reflections. As usual there is a lot of texture with hand dyed felts, yarns and curls.

The piece is stitched on to a piece of mountboard that measures 38 x 38 cm and the original is approximately 28 cm in diameter and about 3cm deep.

I recently worked on a pond commission for a client that featured all her favourite parts of her pond. After completing it, I made this one with all my favourite parts of a pond. I have thousands of photographs that I have taken of ponds over the past couple years and use a lot for inspiration while I was making this piece.

It is wet and needle felted merino wool and silks plus a copper moon is in the centre.  The copper moon was made by my friend Shalini Austin.
