Description
Dinosaurs! Original Artwork features the type of dinosaur toys I played with as a kid in the 1980s. This was when they were scary lizards and didn’t really have distinction. I think I started learning more of their names after watching The Land Before Time. When I was a preschool teacher in my 20s, I noticed how lots of the children started naming them with very specific names.
This piece is bold and vibrant and I created it to go in an exhibition called Vivid that happened earlier this year. It features a colourful night sky filled with large stars and planets. There is a T-Rex, stegosaurus, velociraptor, pterodactyl and brontosaurus that feature in foreground. They each have a “painted on face” rather than ultra realistic features like my normal art. Each one has their own personality which emerged more as I wet felted it. I especially like the melancholy expression on the brontosaurus in the corner.
This is a large felted original that is 20 inches (51cm) square and is stitched onto a piece of mountboard that is 29 inches (74 cm) square. It is signed in pencil and it will be posted flat.
