EASTON WALLED GARDENS: Autumn Woodland Felting @ Easton Walled Gardens | Easton | United Kingdom

A full day of felting!

Needle Felted Woodland Class:

Spend a couple of hours learning the basics of needle felting to create whimsical woodland animals such as squirrels, birds, hedgehogs, mice and more. You will learn to use different types of wool such as Jacobs and Shetland to sculpt the animals bodies and then learn to card and mix colours of Merino wool to create the colours for your animal. Information about different felting needles will also be shared and you will have the opportunity to purchase supplies after the class to continue creating at home. All materials will be supplied for the class just bring yourself and your imagination.

Needle Felting is a process that cannot be undone, it uses sharp barbed needles to tangle wool roving together. Once the fibres have tangled /felted then you can sculpt them into 3D shapes. Using a finer needle you can add colour and texture to the shape with Merino wool.

Autumn Garland Class:

Create a whimsical garland for your home during this craft class. Learn to use Merino wool, silk, sparkle, and other natural fibres to wet felt leaves, acorns, small flowers, and bunting. Learn to needle felt to create toadstools to add to the garland. Ribbon, threads, beads and yarn will be provided to string your creations together into a garland.

Wet Felting is a process that also cannot be undone, to felt the wool roving together we use bubble wrap, fairy liquid soap, hot water and agitation (rubbing our fingers over it). This process tangles the wool together and creates a fabric that we can cut and sculpt easily.

All materials are provided during this class but feel free to bring an apron (for water splashes) and plastic/latex gloves if your hands are sensitvie to the soap.
